Folk and Fairy Tale Literacy

In Literacy & Tales Task Cards, 3rd or 4th grade learners ponder events, character traits and the central messages of six fun, lively and familiar stories. This ELA center, game or cooperative learning tool includes 30 task cards and a key. The questions involve these widely read and familiar stories: ~The Emperor's New Clothes~ ~Sleeping Beauty~ ~Goldilocks and the Three Bears~ ~Little Red Riding Hood~ ~The Pied Piper of Hamelin~ ~The Princess and the Pea~ This lesson is aligned to Common Core State Standards. ELA Literacy RL.3.1 Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers. ELA- Literacy RL.3.2 Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures; determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text. CCSS.ELA-Literacy RL.3.3 Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings) and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events.
